Ken, My father, Sgt W H Harries, was killed on the same raid and is buried in the same place. I will be visiting this summer to have a chat with Dad and will spend some time at Geoffrey's grave to honour his sacrifice also. my best wishes to you, John Harries

Sadly, more conflicts have occurred since WW2 involving Spondon lads and girls. Anyone having information of casualties should add them to the Spondon Heroes pages.

A small correction... William Mawrey Harvey was my oldest cousin. He lived on Stoney Lane/Borrowash Road. It was our grandparents, Martin Luther and Henrietta Harvey who lived at Balla Craine on Dale Road. Christine Sykes (born on Dale Road).

Thanks for the note. My good friend Ken Craig married Iris Harvey from Spondon. They moved to Rugby. Her father was a British Celanese fireman who lived in the Celanese cottages on Nottingham Road. She said that Bill Harvey was her cousin so you must also be a relative of hers? I have photos if you are interested.
Sincerely yours, Ken Porter

Hello there,
William Mawrey Harvey would have been my uncle had he survived. I am trying to find as much information out about him as possible, if you know anything at all about him I would love to know more.
I am trying to piece together some family history.
Thank you
