I remember Miss Benieston very well. She was my excellent English teacher in 1938 and her photo can be seen on the SHCS school panorama on my 'Schools of Spondon' chapter in "A Village Remembered' on this site.
She taught us Shakespeare plays and memorable poetry. Also conducted the Religion course including the Psalms.

I remember Miss Bennieston because she taught me how to play hockey at 11 yrs of age and as a result I played for school and county. She was a dedicated teacher to all her pupils and long may she live and enjoy life.

Re Miss Bennieston, thought I would let people know Miss Bennieston is alive and well in her 90's.

I thought you all would like to know that Miss Bennieston is living in a Residential Home in Weymouth, Dorset. She is 98 years old, and will be 99 in October 2012. Miss Bennieston receives greetings cards from some of her former pupils at Spondon and seems to recall her earlier days at Spondon quite clearly.
