As next year will be the fiftieth anniversary of pupils born in 1943 and 1944 leaving SPGS after O levels, I am exploring the idea of organising a reunion. I am in regular contact with several ex-pupils of the A stream class and I do remember the names of most of my classmates with whom I have no contact. Would anyone reading this thread please respond to see if the idea is a starter or not. Thanks.

Hi Dave, seemed to have followed in , your footsteps four years later but my brother David Bakewell left in 1963 or 1964 after his "A"levels; he was a choirboy and in the boys club at St. Werburghs. Some of his friends were Tony Waters, John Palin [ who I had a huge crush on] and John? Dixon.
Like you, I left England vowing to return, I have made several trips back home but alas my children and 11 grandchildren keep me in Alabama,USA., but home will always be England.
Gillian, from homesick for Spondon

Angie: Only just joined this forum, but noticed your plea for SPGS photos. I just posted a "Panoramic" of the school from 1962 on "Friends Reunited". (Actually 4 photos - the panoramic is wide!) give me at e-mail and I'll send them to you.

Hi
I'm John Dixon's sister and he who was a close friend of David Bakewell. I was 6 years younger than John. Would love to get in contact with others who started at the school around 1964/65.

Hello Sal, you must be Sally Dixon. We had a series of SPGS reunions for the Year you and I were in, about 10 years ago now. Have a look at the web page I created for them here myweb.tiscali.co.uk/djrpsite/I can put you in touch with most of the people who were in our year. I would love to catch up with what you've been up to over the years. Email me if you want to chat at djrpurcell@theiet.org Daryl

Just a few years behind the 8 ball but better late than never. I recognized the name David Caruthera. I left the school in 1960 I think. Now living and retiring not very gracefully in Canada Are there any others Fromm that era on here? Cheers
