Warren Terrace extended eastward from the junction of Raynesway with Nottingham Road. It was built by the Derby Co-operative Society after WW1, and I recall that it was named after one of the Directors of the DCS. I can't tell you if it is still there as I no longer live in Spondon. Maybe our Webmaster can tell you ! Ken Porter

Hi ,
Just seen this reference to 'Warren Terrace' It's still there ,just called Derby Road now . I was was born at 104 derby Rd, and can remember as a lad seeing the sign 'Warren Terrace' high up on the front of one of the houses , grew up on Derby Rd in the 1950 s.

Hi delboy,my name is Gillian Bakewell, I also grew up on Derby Road in the fifties, my brother,David and I used to walk up Merchant Ave to school everyday, our address was 41 Derby Road, you can imagine my surprise in 2005, my first trip back to England since he sixties, my old home had been torn down. I sat on the curb and cried for quite a while, until a lady came out of #33 and wanted to know if I was ok; I felt like a big baby but Spondon will always be home to me. Oh! dad was transfered to the U.S. in 1966, so mum and I followed on soon after. David still lives in England

Hi Gillian, I remember you and your brother David, I delivered newspapers on Derby Rd and often stopped to talk to David as we crossed each others path during our rounds. I delivered for Mr. Hayburn at the post office untill 1964, think we where the only 'blondies' on that part of Derby Rd. Hope you are keeping well.
Regards
Derek
