Do you live in an area covered by a Neighbourhood Watch scheme? Or would you like to have a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in your area?
NHW is the most effective example of the police and the community working together to prevent crime, help build a safer community and improve quality of life. Insurance statistics show houses in active scheme areas have a 1 in 344 chance of being burgled compared to the national average of 1 in 35 in non scheme areas. Equally if you have the recommended locks on doors and windows, your risk falls to 1 in 1350.
As a group working together, it helps to make the community a safer and friendly place to live. Tackling local problems in a group is easier and you have a stronger voice. Pooling of local knowledge improves community for everyone.
NHW schemes improve and strengthen links with your local safer neighbourhood team and are ably supported by the NHW support group based in the Derby St.Mary's Wharf station contacted on 01332 613043 and nhwofficederby@yahoo.com
Often house insurance premiums are reduced for scheme members.
