Does anyone have any further information regarding the Yarn Spinner and whether or not it has been sold off? If so is it true there are plans in place for this to become a tesco express? I live opposite on Stoney Lane and am interested to know when the changes are likely to happen or if in face there just rumours. Any news would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Clare

I remember this pub being built, I was in my second year at Spondon House then. Also that year they dumped all that soil on South Avenue recreation ground, they said they were building a road and in time it would improve the recreation ground. For about a year a few people got stuck in all that mud, and the Fire service had to be called to get them out. Also it was the last year of the bad bend on Stony Lane in front of the cemetery, it was taken out the following year, and pavements were put in.

Thank you helen for common sense.. over 200 people have looked at this message re: yarn spinner/development. As yet there are no plans for a tesco's or any other development on the yarn spinner grounds. I trust this msg will stop all the rumours . We're a friendly lot and if you care to enter you'll meet some very nice people and be served a good pint of beer or soft drink if you prefer.

I think the Yarn Spinner is a lovely pub. Okay, it's no oil painting from the outside but the people in there were very friendly when I first moved to Spondon a couple of years ago and they serve some good beer.
